Era Helicopters LLC (Era) is pleased to announce US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval of its Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) program. E-FOQA, as it is known at Era, is the first FOQA program approved for FAR (Federal Aviation Regulations) Part 135 operations. Era Helicopters is the only helicopter operator with an FAA approved FOQA program.
Neill Osborne, President of Era Helicopters said, ”This approval is a critical component of our strategic business goal of placing safety as a key business process. Era’s commitment to providing a modern fleet of aircraft equipped with risk reducing equipment is the forefront of this strategy and the right thing to do for our passengers and employees. FOQA & MOQA (Maintenance Operations Quality Assurance) are but two of our data programs which are designed to address quality and safety, and provide continual improvement in providing safe working and flying environments.”
Era’s commitment is further exemplified by its decision to equip its helicopter fleet with Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) and Health & Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS) and its use of Sagem Avionics’ AGS (Analysis Ground Station) software as its single source software provider.
Ed Washecka, Era Helicopters CEO, commented, “We believe these investments are beneficial in providing our employees, customers and passengers with the safest and most efficient rotary wing transportation possible. Ultimately we plan to have all of our helicopters equipped with FDM/HUMS.”
After nearly six decades of operation, Era Helicopters remains at the forefront of the oil and gas support industry with its technologically advanced helicopter fleet. Transporting personnel to the shallow and deepwater oil and gas fields in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska is Era’s primary business. Era also supports firefighting operations, operates flightseeing tours in Alaska, offers environmental support and leases helicopters to third parties around the globe. Era is committed to service and safety excellence in every aspect of its operations.
