With more than 60 years experience, Era Helicopters LLC (Era) is an established leader and the longest serving helicopter provider in the industry. Headquartered in Lake Charles, Louisiana, transporting personnel to the shallow and deepwater oil and gas fields in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska is Era’s primary business. In addition to offshore oil and gas support in the United States, Era provides services to international customers, fire fighting operations, mining, technical services industries, operates flightseeing tours in Alaska, provides environmental support, offers FAA-approved full-service Search and Rescue (SAR) and Emergency Medical Services capability and turnkey solutions to offshore Oil & Gas companies located in the Gulf of Mexico and abroad, and leases helicopters to third parties around the globe. Additionally, our sister company, EraMED LLC, provides air medical services around the country.

The new Era Training Center located near Era's headquarters in Lake Charles, provides the highest quality helicopter training services through two state-of-the-art Flight Simulator Training Devices (FSTD) and cutting-edge classrooms. In July of 2008, the Era Training Center's EC135 FSTD received the first CFR part 60 Helicopter FSTD qualification to date. The EC135 FSTD, built by Frasca International, Inc. (Frasca), offers an exact cockpit replication, duplicating both the single pilot and dual pilot Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) configuration.

Throughout its history, Era has taken the initiative in developing safe operational techniques in many demanding conditions. Era is the first civil helicopter company to take Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA) technology, a program utilized by the airline industry for more than 20 years to routinely obtain and analyze data recorded in flight, into its entire fleet. Additionally, Era is one of the first companies to introduce the HUMS safety and maintenance program into its fleet.
